  • TAYA – Simple Phrase
  • First off, congrats on your upcoming album, Fill This House. What is the story behind the name and your new album? How did it come about?

Thank you! We are really excited about this project. As we were writing our songs, one of our groups led by Sydney James and Josh Daugh#ry wrote the song “Fill This House.” The song was a cry out to God for an overflow of His presence and power, and a desire for a continued, Spirit-Filled encounter with Jesus. It was written in a season that fit the posture of our local congregation, and it became the rally point around which the rest of our songs gather! It made sense for that to be our title track.

In general, what is the writing process like for you as a group?

Aside from divine inspiration, we generally are intentional about gathering together in writing groups and seeing how we are inspired spiritually and creatively. When we gather, after a time of prayer and direction, we fit each group with a lead writer, a producer, and two or three additional writers and see what comes of it. Sometimes, the lead writer or producer comes with an idea to build upon, and sometimes an idea originates from within the session. Either way, that group works together to write a song within the allotted time frame. If we decide to use the song, we’ll revisit it for revisions or use it as-is if it feels complete.

Do you have a favorite song on the album?

As far as favorites, I think people gravitate toward “the Lifter” or “Fill This House.” I love those songs! However, I think the one that meets me where I need to be met the most is “Still Here.” It’s a reminder to not allow the busyness of ministry to distract us from sitting at the feet of Jesus!

Tell me more about the group’s ministry? How did the group start?

Faith Worship Arts is the worship ministry of our church, Faith Assembly in Orlando, Florida. Over the years, we have grown from being primarily focused on ministry to our local congregation to seeing how God wants to use our songs in the global Body of Christ!

What are some of your musical influences?

There are so many! The Church has so many varied forms of creativity and expression in worship. Our team has gleaned from Israel and New Breed, to Hillsong Worship, to Elevation Worship and so many more! I personally grew up with a lot of gospel and was influenced by the likes of Byron Cage, Fred Hammond, and groups like Commissioned and The Winans.

What kind of message do you hope people will take away from your new album?

Jesus is worthy of our worship and there is nothing that compares to a real encounter with Him!

    What’s next for you?

We’re continuing to write and produce. We are planning some possible alternate versions of a few of these songs that people can look out for. We are also supporting the creation of our youth and young adult team’s (Mainstream Worship) new album! We are excited about what is coming!

Anything last minute and really important you want to tell our readers?

Thank you for listening to our music. We hope that all of these songs help you prioritize God’s presence. Pray for us that our ministry will continue to help people encounter Jesus!
