Disciple and Honor & Glory celebrate first career Grammy nomination for “Firm Foundation (He Won’t)”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — Disciple and their worship project Honor & Glory are celebrating their first career Grammy nomination for “Firm Foundation (He Won’t).” The track is nominated for Best Contemporary/Christian Performance Song of the Year.

“Honestly, we’re speechless,” the band says. “This is a recognition we never saw coming. It’s particularly meaningful that the nominated song is one that recognizes and reveres God’s revolutionary love, which has truly been the foundation of everything Disciple has accomplished.”

The song is Honor & Glory’s exhilarating take on a Cody Carnes track popularized by Maverick City. “Firm Foundation (He Won’t)” lays down a rock-solid foundation of faith in Jesus that can withstand the worst storms of the world.

“Almost everything about being a Christian is unnatural,” Kevin Young, who fronts both bands, explains. “To trust when you don’t have the answers. To love someone who would hurt you. To have joy in chaos. Why would you do that? But when you experience Jesus and you walk with Him, you realize that He has this way of taking chaos, taking tragedy, taking storms, and somehow growing you through that. You come out the other side thankful for the storm. The story that is planted deep inside of you because of that storm, the story of redemption and the story of victory and the story of triumph over tragedy, doesn’t come without a storm.”

This Grammy nomination is a career first for Disciple, who has been a mainstay in the heavy Christian music genre for 30 years. The distinction adds to a list of accolades that includes 15 Dove Award nominations and 18 career #1 singles. The band’s most recent release, “If You Say So,” has also been rapidly climbing the charts. The Grammy nod pays homage to the duality Disciple has always reconciled in their music: a high-adrenaline rock sound with a worshipful, gospel-first heart.

Disciple is comprised of Kevin Young (vocals), Josiah Prince (guitar), Andrew Stanton (guitar) and Joey West (drums). Honor & Glory draws on additional guitar and vocal talents from Dane Allen. Both bands are currently partnered with BEC Recordings.

You can listen to “Firm Foundation (He Won’t)” on the Grammys’ official playlist. For more about Disciple, find them at http://linktr.ee/disciplerocks

  • Disciple releases new album Skeleton Psalms, a story of death resurrected

Disciple releases new album Skeleton Psalms, a story of death resurrected

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — Acclaimed rock group Disciple has released their latest full-length studio album Skeleton Psalms, an opus of life and death led by the singles “The Executioner” and “Promise to Live.” The album is available from BEC Recordings/Tooth & Nail on all major streaming services at https://disciple.ffm.to/skeletonpsalms.

Disciple’s Skeleton Psalms is the story of humanity told in three parts: brokenness, mercy and ultimate victory.

“Every single song is intertwined and connected with each other,” lead singer and band founder Kevin Young reflects. “They all deal with similar themes, they all have an element of being autobiographical. It’s almost like chapter 1, chapter 2, chapter 3: human depravity, the unconditional love of God, then victory.”

Skeleton Psalms was created in house: produced by guitarist Josiah Prince at his studio The Ranch, written by Kevin Young, Andrew Stanton (guitar) and Josiah Prince, with drums from Joey West and additional backing vocal support from touring bassist Marco Pera. For additional support on instrumentation, Mark “Traa” Daniels (P.O.D.) played bass. The band called on mix engineer Nick Rad (Skillet), mastering engineer Sam Moses (Tenth Avenue North) and the drum recording skills of Lester Estelle (Pillar, Kelly Clarkson) to round out the creative team.

In addition to the three songs that preceded the album, Skeleton Psalms boasts the hauntingly visceral title track “Skeleton Psalm,” the poignant celebration “Resurrecting Reasons,” the savagely ripping “20 20 Blind” and the irresistible compassion of “For the Life of Me.” Sonically, the album paints from a palette colored with every one of the releases in the band’s acclaimed 30-year career. At the same time, the soundscape that ultimately takes shape is wholly the product of the current lineup’s 10 years as a creative unit.

“It’s just the chemistry of the four of us having played so many shows together,” guitarist and producer Josiah Prince reflects. “We have so much instinct now for what the four of us would do on a song when we’re performing it. So when we’re writing the songs, it is informed by that. To me, this album feels the most like the energy that we put out on stage.”

The release of Skeleton Psalms is being celebrated on April 28 through SkeleVision, a special livestreamed album release show with upgrades for exclusive merch. Tickets and upgrades are available now. Disciple is also giving away a custom Xbox S, which you can enter to win through Tunespeak. For more from Disciple, visit https://linktr.ee/disciplerocks

In their acclaimed career, Disciple has recorded 13 studio albums, earned 16 No. 1 singles, and sold hundreds of thousands of records. Their music has been featured on ESPN’s NFL Live, WWE, Fox Sports, as well as in commercials for CBS’ CSI: Miami and Criminal Minds. They’ve received multiple Dove Awards and played thousands of shows worldwide, including a 2023 stint in 40 arenas on Winter Jam Tour. Currently, Disciple is playing both rock sets and leading worship through their other musical project Honor & Glory.

  • Disciple releases new song “Bad Words” alongside preorder of upcoming album Skeleton Psalms

Disciple releases new song “Bad Words” alongside preorder of upcoming album Skeleton Psalms

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — Disciple has released the new song “Bad Words,” the latest track from forthcoming album Skeleton Psalms, which is due out from BEC Recordings on April 28. Along with the new song, the band launched vinyl and CD preorders. You can stream “Bad Words” and find all preorder and presave options at https://ffm.bio/disciple.

“Bad Words” is a blistering rocker touting a subversive message about what we are and aren’t allowed to say.

“We really like to write songs that make people excited about their faith,” band lead singer and founder Kevin Young shares. “Hopefully, not make people annoying, abusive or violent Christians. More that they’ve set the constitution of their heart to where they are unashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ: I am going to love you. I’m going to love you no matter your political party, or your race, or any other kind of adjective that separates you from someone else. For God so loved the world, and therefore I so love the world.”

He continues, “But if you think it’s a bad word for rme to say Jesus? I just need you to know that I’m going to say what I believe, because of my love and my passion for Him and my love and my passion for people. That they need to know that there is a God. And He did not come to the world to condemn the world, but He came to the world to save them. That’s our message: this bad word known as Jesus.”

    “Jesus

The Ghost that haunts my house

    That drives my demons out

    The only hope for me

Is found in just one name.”

You can watch the full lyric video on YouTube.

Like the rest of the album, “Bad Words” was created in house: produced by guitarist Josiah Prince at his studio The Ranch, written by Kevin Young, Andrew Stanton (guitar) and Josiah Prince, with drums from Joey West and additional backing vocal support from touring bassist Marco Pera. The band called on mix engineer Nick Rad (Skillet) and mastering engineer Sam Moses (Tenth Avenue North) to round out the creative team.

The song follows the release of “Promise to Live” and “The Executioner,” which just recently topped CMW’s Christian Rock chart. The band also just wrapped a stint on Winter Jam Tour, playing 40 arenas around the country. Currently, in addition to preparing for the release of Skeleton Psalms on April 28, Disciple is playing both rock sets and leading worship through their other musical project Honor & Glory. • Disciple invites fans to “Promise to Live” with impactful new single

Disciple invites fans to “Promise to Live” with impactful new single

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — Disciple released “Promise to Live” on February 1, the second song from forthcoming album Skeleton Psalms (slated for April 28). You can find “Promise to Live” on all major streaming services: https://disciple.ffm.to/promise.bio

“The idea for ‘Promise to Live’ was birthed out of an old message I used to give,” Disciple frontman and founder Kevin Young shares. “It’s the idea that we all are in this world together, and are all in recovery together, from the trauma of this world and this life. We’re not fighting alone. We’re fighting together. We make this promise to God and to each other: to not give up. To not lose hope. To not give up fighting. To live for the most precious gift we have, which is life.”

In conjunction with that concept, Disciple has launched a social media campaign inviting fans to share about why they promise to live, using the hashtag #IPromiseToLive. The band has been resharing some of the responses.

“Ever since I’ve been saved, I’ve always remembered two things, my promise to live and that Christ is with me always. His promise.” — Ethan

“I Promise to live to beat the anxiety, depression, sadness and anger that I’ve endured this past year to the point where I felt like I couldn’t breathe… that God has a purpose for that pain.” — Megan

“I promise to live after battling Triple Negative Breast Cancer and enduring 6 months of chemotherapy, 33 rounds of radiation and 5 surgeries.” — Sally

“I promise to live because my anxiety, self doubt, depression and wrong impressions I leave are not me.” — Katie

“I promise to live by fighting for my life keeping God and my sobriety as a number 1 priority.” — Cassidy

“I ‘Promise to Live,’ because I know God isn’t finished with my life yet.” — Thomas

The social media outpouring continues to solidify Disciple’s role as a crucial voice of encouragement in struggles with mental health and suicidal thoughts. As an expressive and emotional midtempo rock track with soaring gang vocals, “Promise to Live” follows in the footsteps of precious career-defining songs like “After the World,” “Invisible” and “Erase.”

“Promise to Live” follows “The Executioner,” which released last month to instant fan and media acclaim. Disciple is playing “Promise to Live” as part of their set on Winter Jam, where they are playing all 40 dates coast to coast this winter. You can view their full tour schedule at disciplerocks.com/tour

  • Disciple releases brutal new single ‘The Executioner,’ announces full-length album Skeleton Psalms

Disciple releases brutal new single ‘The Executioner,’ announces full-length album Skeleton Psalms

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — Disciple has released their first new music in over three years with “The Executioner.” The brutally heavy track is now streaming everywhere at https://ffm.bio/disciple. “The Executioner” is the first single from Skeleton Psalms, the band’s upcoming full-length album, due out from Tooth & Nail Records on April 28.

The mainstay rockers also released a music video for “The Executioner,” directed by Joel Burris. With visuals as bleak as the song’s crushing riffs and stark lyrics, the music video provides insight into the song’s themes. You can watch the video on YouTube.

“The song is about coming to grips with your flaws, your failures, your shame, your sin,” frontman Kevin Young explains. It’s realizing that no, I don’t want to celebrate anything about what I’ve done in this life. I want to lay my life down in exchange for a better one that God has for me.”

In that context, the executioner is an emissary of a merciful death: the death to self that leads to resurrection.

Young says, “We wanted to do a video that had an executioner in it, a video about really coming to grips with letting go of your life. I think that’s the part of Christianity that’s so beautiful. You get to this place where you’re ready to let go of all that you’ve had, ready to surrender and give yourself to God. We’re always ready to receive from Him. But the moment when we’re ready to surrender everything to Him, that’s the death to ourselves. The idea of laying down my life becomes this beautiful idea, as opposed to a dark and sinister idea. I sing ‘my beautiful executioner.’ This is what I want.”

That concept is illustrated by a death row storyline that leads to a dark end — and a new beginning.

“The Executioner” delivers the signature musical ferocity and spiritual weight that listeners have come to expect from Kevin Young (vocals), Josiah Prince (guitar), Joey West (drums) and Andrew Stanton (guitar). It’s a trademark that carries throughout the songs that comprise Skeleton Psalms, which will be Disciple’s 13th full-length studio album. Thematically, “The Executioner” is the perfect introduction to this new era.

“The three themes you can expect from the album are human depravity, the love, mercy and unconditional love of God and also, ultimately, victory,” Kevin Young reveals.

Fans were introduced to “The Executioner” the same day that Disciple embarked on Winter Jam, the annual 40 city Christian music megatour that will span coast to coast between now and the end of March. A full list of tour dates is available at disciplerocks.com/tour. The band is also offering exclusive Tour Bus Experience packages for Winter Jam’s duration, which can be purchased at tourbusexperience.eventbrite.com

You can find “The Executioner” on all platforms at  https://ffm.bio/disciple, where Skeleton Psalms will also be available to presave.

  • Kutless releases apocalyptic new single “End of the World” featuring Kevin Young of Disciple

Kutless releases apocalyptic new single “End of the World” featuring Kevin Young of Disciple

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — Christian rock mainstay Kutless has released a concept-heavy, apocalyptic new single “End of the World.” The song features a guest vocal from Kevin Young of Disciple. You can find “End of the World” on your service of choice at https://kutless.ffm.to/endoftheworld.

The cinematic rock track offers some of the heaviest guitars from the band to date, paired with celestial tones and weighty lyrics.

“The song deals with the pain and suffering we are seeing around the world, an indictment against apathy and the refusal to help when we witness the destruction of innocent lives,” guitarist James Mead reveals. “The song ultimately turns into an evangelistic plea, asking listeners ‘do you need a miracle?’”

Full lyrics are available in the lyric video, which you can watch on YouTube.

“This is where streets run with the blood

    of the beaten, the broken…

but we refuse to help them,

    our doors left unopened.”

The guest vocals from Kevin Young kick in on the bridge before the song thunders to its conclusion, clocking in at just under six minutes in length. From beginning to end, “End of the World” sees Kutless pushing the boundaries of their hard rock sound to previously unexplored frontiers.

“End of the World” is the latest installment in Kutless’ comeback, a triumphant return that began in July with their nostalgic Twenty EP and later led to September’s single “Words of Fire.” The songs are the first hints of what fans can expect from a forthcoming full length album— the band’s first in over five years.

This renaissance for one of faith-based rock’s most beloved bands has also included the podcast Rock in a Hard Place. Hosted by lead singer Jon Micah Sumrall and guitarist James Mead, the podcast offers fans a glimpse into the stories and insights that have shaped Kutless’s genre-defining songs.
