  • (NASHVILLE, TN) — Nashville-based hard rock band KALAMITY KILLS is finding breakout success with the release of their powerful new song “Starry Skies (988),” featuring drums and vocals from Aaron Gillespie of UNDERØATH. An anthem for suicide prevention, the new single originally premiered on SiriusXM Octane with Jose Mangin and just entered the Mediabase Top 40.

Written by vocalist Jamie Rowe and producer/guitarist Jamey Perrenot, the track addresses the critical issue of suicide prevention and awareness, drawing from Rowe’s personal experiences with suicidal ideation. The song specifically references the 988 Suicide Prevention Hotline, aiming to offer hope and support to those in need. Mixed by Kellen McGregor of Memphis May Fire, “Starry Skies (988)” is a testament to the band’s desire to create music that forms real connections with fans …and perhaps save a life.

“You’re not alone,” says Rowe. “When the weight of life feels too heavy, remember that you’ve survived 100% of the trials you’ve already faced. This song is a call to hold on to hope. There’s always hope!”

With a career spanning decades, performances in over 35 countries, and 13 #1 radio hits, Rowe is best known for delivering authentic and emotionally charged music with the band Guardian. Disillusioned with limiting his sound to a single, faith-based genre, Rowe shifted his focus to creating music that resonates more universally. Perrenot, who’s served as Taylor Swift’s bandleader and toured with LeAnn Rimes, brings his production expertise from his East Nashville studio, where the duo’s dynamic partnership came to life.

KALAMITY KILLS’ self-titled debut album reflects a perfect balance of timeless rock influences and modern energy, and features guest appearances by UNDERØATH’s Aaron Gillespie, Korn‘ Ray Luzier and Greg Upchurch of 3 Doors Down. The band’s reimagined cover of “I Still Believe,” the iconic anthem from The Lost Boys soundtrack, first introduced them to a global audience, followed by “The Chemistry of Meant To Be,” which climbed to #42 on the Mediabase and Billboard Rock charts.

The band recently expanded their live lineup to include Julia Bullock and Rob Bodley of the Nashville alt-rock band The Foxies, whose dynamic energy further elevates KALAMITY KILLS’ electrifying stage performances.

While still finding their audience, KALAMITY KILLS has already carved out a niche with their unique blend of raw emotion and high-energy rock. As Rowe puts it: “There’s always a place for fun, mindless hard rock songs, but if I can season that with something that goes deeper than the eardrums, I’m going to explore that.”

Kalamity Kills is available now on all streaming platforms, and will be released on vinyl in February 2025 through PERO Recordings/Girder Music.

  • For Immediate Release (Westlake Village, CA) — Tensions have flared between South Sudan and its neighbor Sudan following the killings of South Sudanese Christians in Wad Madani, a city in eastern Sudan. Christian Solidarity International’s (CSI) project manager for South Sudan and Sudan reported the South Sudanese “were targeted for being black and Christian.”

“This atrocity crime came hard on the heels of the U.S. State Department’s claim that the rival Rapid Support Forces have committed genocide against indigenous Muslim Black Africans in Darfur in western Sudan,” commented CSI International President John Eibner, an expert on the region. “Politically and socially marginalized Black Africans appear to be targeted for atrocities by both rival Islamist fighting forces.”

In Sudan itself, a civil war has been raging since April 2023, when fighting broke out between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF). On January 11, 2025, the SAF recaptured the strategic city of Wad Madani which the RSF had seized in December 2023. The recapture of Wad Madani is seen as a major breakthrough for the Sudanese army. The city, situated southeast of the capital Khartoum, had been a place of refuge for thousands of people fleeing the fighting – among them South Sudanese citizens – before becoming a center of conflict itself.

Videos began circulating on social media apparently showing government troops capturing and slaughtering South Sudanese civilians in Wad Madani. News reports spoke of between 13 and 29 people executed and beheaded.

Enraged by the massacre, some South Sudanese carried out retaliatory attacks on Sudanese traders and refugees in Juba, the South Sudanese capital, and other urban centers. Protests on the evening of January 16 spilled over into the looting of Sudanese-run businesses.

Since the start of the war, observers have accused both the SAF and the RSF of singling out Christians for attack and destroying churches in areas that they control.

In Sudan, the largest Christian communities are in the Nuba Mountains region of South Kordofan state and Blue Nile state, which neighbor South Sudan. The Nuba Mountains are under the control of rebels from the secular Sudanese People’s Liberation Movement, and the region has remained largely untouched by the fighting that began in 2023.

The Nuba Christian population endured decades of oppression under Sudan’s former Islamist dictatorship. During the country’s second civil war (1983-2005), government forces subjected them to attacks that many scholars have described as genocidal. Countless people in the South Sudan were killed by Islamist militias or abducted to the north. Even though the slave raids have stopped, many Southern Sudanese are still enslaved and are exposed to the cruel arbitrariness of slave owners; others were born in slavery. To date, CSI has been able to free over 100,000 slaves.

  • FOR RELEASE JANUARY 31, 2025 — Faith-based rock group Relentless Flood has released a soulful acoustic rendition of their song “Still I Know,” just in time for singer Marshal Huffman to embark on a series of dates in Germany with The Protest’s Josh Bramlett. The song is streaming now at https://relentlessflood.hearnow.com/still-i-know-acoustic/

“I came up with the acoustic arrangement for this song during the early part of the pandemic lockdowns of 2020,” Relentless Flood frontman Marshal Huffman offers. “It was a time of such turmoil and uncertainty, making it hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I felt led to make a video of me playing ‘Still I Know’ acoustic as an encouragement to believers to keep their eyes on Jesus.”

Fans were deeply moved and encouraged by the song, quickly requesting a recording. Marshal is finally delivering this new version of the timeless message, just in time for a series of concerts in Germany with The Protest’s Josh Bramlett. The concerts themselves will be up-close-and-personal acoustic shows.

Marshal says, “Over the past few years, I’ve had the chance to play a lot of acoustic shows. This has allowed me to portray the full dynamic range of everything the songs can be, even though they were written with heavy instrumentation and production. I am looking forward to doing music like this somewhere new with a really good friend, pouring my heart out in these songs. I have grown to love the raw emotion and more intimate connection acoustic performances facilitate with the audience.”

That connection is particularly poignant when it comes to songs with as rich a message as the one found in “Still I Know.”

“Even though we wrote ‘Still I Know’ seven years prior to the pandemic, the message rang just as true then as it does today. No matter what chaos, war, famine, pandemic, or whatever else might come our way, we know our King is still on the throne. He is our Rock and our Savior. Jesus is unchanging. He is constant. He is consistent. He is never failing,” the singer concludes.

You can stream “Still I Know (Acoustic)” wherever you are in the world today. Find Relentless Flood on Facebook and Instagram for more updates, and see a full list of German tour dates below.

  • Skillet is one of my favorite bands. I’ve listened to them for many years. The reason I enjoy their music so much is how invigorating their music is. I even remember having to work a stressful job during the pandemic, and I would listen to their album, “Victorious.” It gave me that punch of energy and motivation to get through each day. Singing along to the lyrics in my car on the way to work gave me reassurance. I mean, I used to listen to them more in the past, but since I got that album, I’ve been pleased to have access to their newer music. And I’ve enjoyed each one.

The overall combination of great lyrics and strong songs makes me always go back to Skillet. They’re just so good, and their newest album is the same as their others (which is perfect). I really enjoyed Revolution, listening to it while working on the computer. I don’t have the physical album of Revolution, but I’d like to collect all their albums for my car. I often find that I need extra motivation when facing the world. It’s become a dark place, you know, so I’m grateful for Skillet. I hope they continue to keep playing music because what they do makes a huge difference.

Revolution is an awesome album. And to be honest, my favorite songs could be all of them. But there were a few that stood out. “Unpopular” is a wonderful track. It’s how I feel in this life. And I’m sure it resonates with a lot of people with lyrics like, “If freedom is a disease, who would ever want to be popular.” In, “All That Matters,” the song starts out beautifully. Once again, the lyrics are great with, “My faith, my family, my freedom are all that matters to me.” And, “Not Afraid” is another cool song with lyrics like, “I am not afraid, I will keep the faith, never back down ‘til my dying day.” There are more standout songs but really, truly the whole album is like that, so it’s all noteworthy.

I recommend “Revolution” to anyone that likes Christian rock with amazing lyrics. And if you’re in need of some encouragement, pick up this album. Listen to it in your car, anywhere you go. It’ll strengthen your faith, make you bold, and calm your fears. I don’t know if musicians ever know how impactful their music is, but I hope Skillet does. And I hope they continue to make music. Because the world needs more of it. So, yeah, get your copy of “Revolution.” You won’t regret it. And thank you, Skillet! You’ve really made a difference with your songs. Please keep going!
