Gretchen was a young wife and mother to a one year-old when the terror attacks of September 11, 2001 took place. Rising early that day, she turned on the TV and sat down with a cup of coffee. Nothing could have prepared her for what she was about to see.
“I had just turned on the news right as the second plane hit the South Tower,” she said. “Within minutes I was on the floor in tears crying out loud to God.”
Her thoughts immediately went to her baby daughter and what this could mean for her. Would her husband, a firefighter, need to go into work (he did), and would he be in danger? And she watched in pure horror, agony and heartbreak as the videos began to come in of those in the towers trying to escape the flames. For every American, that day was traumatic.
But up out of the ashes, something beautiful emerged in the days and weeks to come. Gretchen remembers, “There was a true and deep humbling that happened. We truly felt helpless. And God was our help and refuge. We WANTED to go to church. We found comfort and strength being near God and each other. We WANTED God to BLESS our nation. It was no longer about ‘me,’ it was about ‘us.’ And OUR nation. OUR country. We cared about each other and wanted to do everything we could to protect our nation.”
What we experienced in the aftermath of 9/11 was, as Gretchen calls it, “the most beautiful outpouring of love and patriotism and brotherly love and camaraderie that we have ever seen in this country.” We couldn’t thank our police and firefighters enough.
Throughout Gretchen’s life, when something has touched her heart, or broken it, she’s written about it. And 9/11 is no exception. For most Americans, it broke us in ways we could have never expected.

Gretchen’s upcoming fourth studio album, Her Faith, will be released this fall. Inspired in part by the trials and tribulations of 2020, and her own experience, Gretchen penned each song on the new project, which she says focuses on the hope of Christ and His help and strength to endure tough times.

Named after one of her hit songs, “Fighting Words,” Holcomb has penned a journaling devotional book filled with encouraging, honest reflections and questions to help you process scripture. Nearly a decade ago, Holcomb began memorizing Scripture with a friend of hers that was battling depression. This devotional marks her first book for adults as she has previously released two best-selling children’s books through B&H Publishing Group (Don’t Forget to Remember, 2020 and Who Sang the First Song, 2018). McAllen, Texas — BT Worship, the musical expression of South Texas’ BT.Church, announces the release of their brand-new single “Eternal Father,” to all digital music outlets. Although the collective has been writing original worship music for their community since 2017, this is their first widespread release of an original song — and their first chance to share the heart of what happens during BT.Church’s gatherings.
“Eternal Father” is based on Ephesians 3:20-21, a passage BT.Church has recited after every service for the past three years: “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.”
“We are believing God to do ‘God-sized’ things among us and He has,” says BT Worship’s Nidia Quintanilla, who penned the new song. “Seeing God at work among us stirs our hearts to say, ’“we want more!’”

San Antonio, TX (July 16, 2021) – Life can throw you unexpected curveballs at any time. It is all about how you deal with them that makes all the difference in life. For Texas-native Patrick Madsen, purpose in life was not always clear. “I went through a very dark period recently where I struggled to find my purpose” says Madsen “When I finally decided I needed to write music as not only a creative outlet, but to make sense of my internal struggles and depression.” Enter NESDAM (“Madsen” spelled backward), the brand-new debut solo project from former Random Hero drummer / current ZAHNA drummer Patrick Madsen. “Crawl” is available for pre-order now on iTunes and will be available for purchase on August 1st.The song is also a rite of passage of sorts to Madsen who says ““Crawl” is the perfect first song to represent the bad mental place I was in, and it tells the story from the beginning of why I ventured into a solo career as NESDAM.” The chorus of the song really acts as a metaphor when it says “Bleeding under shallow waterfalls” which alludes to one choosing to drown in depression instead of standing up and seeing the paradise that is life, ready to behold. “The overwhelming guilt and shame we carry in this life can eat you alive if you let it” Madsen continues in saying “But I’ve found the
remedy for this is to forgive and love yourself.” The last reprise of the chorus acts as a redemptive point taken personally from Madsen’s life. “it embodies my own personal breakthrough in my faith that brought me out of that dark place and help me realize all of blessings around me.” He continues to say “every single day it is a second chance to seize the beauty of living this life”Madsen’s prayer for the song is simple, yet powerful. He says, “I hope that the message of “Crawl” resonates with people and that they realize that no matter how bad this life can look, we must focus on the beauty of it. There is room for growth always and how you see your life is your choice!”
NESDAM plans to release more singles throughout 2021 and into 2022 with plans to eventually record a full record later on down the road. While NESDAM does plan to eventually share the new music on tour, you can find him on tour this summer with his wife, Suzahna Madsen aka ZAHNA.

June 25, 2021–Today, Winona Avenue released their long-awaited self-titled debut album. Every track on the album was written and produced by lead vocalist Daniel Deputy. A well-known Bible scholar recently posted some interesting news relating to current events on social media.
The comment section was instantly bombarded with heated arguments. People who claimed to be Christians traded harsh and ignorant barbs. They posted replies so quickly that they could not have possibly taken the time to listen to each other before blasting off a retort.
It was very disturbing. I stopped reading the thread after a few minutes, grieved that those who claim to be called by the name of Christ could be so rude to each other.
But then, I’m rude to others, too. I also offend the glorious trifecta of grace and turn it inside out.
This is the human condition. Not only are we not quick to hear others, we’re reluctant to listen, eager to break in with our own opinions, and instantly indignant when wronged.
When did this behavior become okay? When did we exchange the mantle of an ambassador for the assassin’s sword?
When did it become more important to represent ourselves than our Lord?
We want to reach others for Christ. We want people to turn to the Savior. We have conferences, meetings, and prayer groups to find ways to reach the lost. But the most powerful message we can sent to others is by loving our sisters and brothers. Deeply, unconditionally. Without reserve.
That’s a message no one can miss. By it’s very nature, it reveals a source beyond the natural human ability. None of us can love that deeply. When we claim to love God and treat each other with distain, our words are made hollow by our actions.
But when we love the unlovable, speak only those words God gives us to lift others up and glorify God, others take note. It points to divine inspiration, a God-breathed strength of spirit. It witnesses to the reality and power of the Lord.
This is a serious issue with God, so much so that He issued a commandment to love one another.
Not a suggestion, nor a request, but a command.
Love God’s people. Practice the trifecta of grace.
I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all people will know that you are My disciples: if you have love for one another.”

My dad’s name is Clay but everyone in my hometown calls him “Coach”. He’s an award-winning great guy! Everybody loves my dad. He was standing near third base coaching at a tournament out of town when he dropped to the ground in agony. The game stopped and the crowd watched as my dad lay on the ground. He was sure he’d been shot… He hadn’t been shot but some of his internal organs were rupturing. That was just the beginning of my dad’s health journey of one surgery after another. He was in and out of hospitals for years.
My mom is a strong woman, but I remember her breaking down and crying. She said all we could do was pray, although she was preparing for the worst. It was hard for me to watch and understand at the time because I was just 9 years old when this all began.
We went to a hotel and my mom was sitting next to the bedside table. She grabbed the Bible and randomly opened it to Psalm 150. She read it through entirely and called out for all of us to put our hands in the air and praise the Lord. I remember it like it was yesterday. She read aloud to us, “Psalm 150. Praise the Lord! Praise God in his Sanctuary!” And then she said, “I don’t care how any of us feel. He’s with us! God sees us right here.” The amazing part of this is that the hotel we were staying in was called – The Sanctuary! So, when you listen to the song there’s a line that says, “Everywhere I am – There you are!” And it’s based on that very moment.
There is a happy ending to my story. My dad is alive and well! God healed him completely.
Since then, my family and I have dedicated our lives to serving Jesus. We’ve been on several missions’ trips around the world. Honestly, that’s where I met Dave Lubben – out on the mission field. We jokingly say we’ve been in prison together – because we actually were in prison together in the Dominican Republic for an outreach where we handed out Bibles to prisoners while sharing the Gospel. If I hadn’t gone on the mission trip, I would never have met Dave and this song may never have made it to light. My mom and I, Dave Lubben, Tyrus Morgan and Kevin Mac wrote this song. We’ve always believed it to be a special song. We have sincerely and literally prayed over this song. We prayed that it would rush into the lives of broken people and bring them peace and restoration. It is my hope and prayer that when people listen to this song that they will be drawn to Jesus. He is my Sanctuary, and I would love for Him to be yours as well.

The new album follows his widely successful 2019 release Haven’t Seen It Yet, which produced the newly certified RIAA Gold Single, “Haven’t Seen It Yet.” This is his second Gold certified career single, and the song was No. 1 at Christian radio for seven weeks making it his fifth No. 1 radio single.
It was also announced this week that Gokey is nominated for the fifth time for “Male Artist of the Year” for this year’s KLOVE Fan Awards, which is the only Christian music fan-voted award show. He is the reigning Male Artist of the Year from 2019 and has won the category three times in the award show history. Fans can vote here for Gokey and other categories. He will also be performing the Spanglish version of his No.1 radio single hit, “Love God Love People” during the pre-taped broadcast, which will air on TBN on June 4th.
In step with many of the messages of his songs, Gokey continues to give back to the community as he has from the start of his career, which began during his time on American Idol during Season Eight as a Top 3 finalist. A heavy dawn groans into a new day, dragging an underbelly full of yesterday’s burdens.
Like the clouds, I awaken gray. Whiny child inhabiting an elder’s body, my first lucid thought of the day is not one of joyful gratitude at the gift of life, but of overwhelming sadness.
Mostly, I hurt for my family. My children are all entering various stages of middle age. My grandchildren vary wildly in age, from their twenties to toddlerhood. My husband and I cherish all of them like the treasures they are.
We are overjoyed with their successes; devastated by their sorrows. In the hard seasons I awaken in the night to find my husband weeping for his family. We have spent many nights and days in a pain so deep I thought it would kill us.
Then I wonder.
How does my heavenly Father take it?
Of course, He’s God. We somehow equate His power and sovereignty with a certain coldness. He’s anything but distant, however. He is all-present, all-knowing, and all-powerful. Because He’s all-knowing, He absorbs the pain of each sorrow.
Silently.
With us. For us.
Because He’s all-present, He is closer than you could imagine.
He’s listening, holding you – heart and breath and soul – when you don’t even know He’s there.
And because He’s all-powerful, He’s working behind the scenes to give you the best possible outcome, even if you can’t see it now.
How do I know this? God has told me in His Word. And I’m a mom. He has taught me the power and pain of parental love.
In these weeks between our national celebration of moms and dads, I contemplate the divine source of the two strikingly contrasting and complementary roles. Everything good about a mother and a father comes from the mind of the Creator. Parenthood is the dual expression of His nature. He’s tender and gentle, but firm when necessary. He protects us but drives us upward, even when we resist Him. And when our sin breaks fellowship with Him, we never stop being His kids, because we wear His name.
When we hurt, God hurts.
When we find victory, He rejoices.
I remember this as the dark clouds release a gentle rain onto the parched earth. I remember heaviness comes before restoration, a night’s weeping before the joy in the morning. God is here, fully present in our sorrows and longing for us to understand He allows the pain to bring us home.
